Gold Box Office Collection Day 6

The King of Independence Day releases, Akshay Kumar, yet again treated us with a masterpiece called Gold that not only impressed the critics but it is raining numbers on the box office for the film. After earning over Rs 25 crore on the opening day itself, the movie refuses to stop and has now already collected over Rs 71 crores. Even after facing tough competition from John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate, Akshay Kumar’s film is shining brightly everywhere.

The Reema Kagti-directorial Gold became Akshay’s highest opening film ever, beating Singh Is Bling which was his highest opening film till now. Reports also suggest that the sports drama is heads on with Salman Khan’s Eid offering Race 3. However, going by the reports in Box Office India, it is said that the film has witnessed 60% drop on Monday and earned just Rs 3.75 cr.

Talking about its Box office collections till date, Bollywood critic and Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh wrote,

Talking about Gold, India TV’s film critic Shalu Singh wrote, “This historical sports drama by Reema Kagti with fictional characters is based on 1948 Olympics when India won its first gold medal as an Independent nation. This patriotic saga is connected by several dots of the history like World War, India’s freedom struggle and partition. The first half of Gold is where characters come into the light and this goes on smoothly. Kagti talks about Tapan going deep into alcoholism and partition that ripped India. Not all the scenes and instances are intriguing.  Gold is beautiful in bits and parts, especially the last 30 minutes, as it keeps you glued to the screen.”
