Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is one of the most active Bollywood celebs on Twitter. There is not a day, or maybe an hour, that goes by when Big B hasn't tweeted about something, and his habit of posting his own pictures for any tweet he is putting up has become a subject of many funny lists.

Bachchan, who currently has 32.9 million followers on Twitter, has posted about quitting the micro-blogging site. Reason? Not because of any trolls or haters, but because he felt that Twitter is dropping some of his followers. In his last tweet (at the time of writing this story), he wrote, "T 2599 - TWITTER ..!!!?? you reduced my number of followers .. !!??HAHAHAHAHAHAHA .. !! thats a joke .. time to get off from you .. thank you for the ride .. .. there are many 'other' fish in the sea - and a lot more exciting !!"

Big B’s tweet comes after many prominent Twitter users across the world lost more than a million followers as federal and state agencies in the US started investigating shadowy agencies that sell fake followers. The investigation was launched after a report in New York Times. It is not clear if Amitabh Bachchan losing followers can be tied in with the same investigation. According to Twitter counter, the actor has lost about 60,000 followers.

With 3,29,41,837 followers, superstar Shah Rukh Khan is now the industry’s most followed personality on the micro-blogging site. Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, has 3,29,01,759 million followers.

Before tweeting the angry post, he shared stills from the same film, marking the 27 years of the movie."T 2599 - 27 YEARS of `HUM` .. BAADDUUMMBAAAAA !!! Amazing times and most importantly the creation of the song `Jumma Chumma` by me .. Rajni with me and Govinda .. and of course the Filmfare award !! good times .. good vibrations .. good all along (sic)," he tweeted.

Fans of the actor expressed their grief at missing out on their daily dose of tweets from his handle. "Amid the sea of 'Twitter celebrities', Amitabh Bachchan was a real celebrity, you know?" one fan said, even as she frantically scrolled through Bachchan Sr's tweets, taking screen shots so she could save them for posterity. She wiped a tear away as she came across a particularly nostalgic old tweet, in which the actor had dwelt on age, life, death, the Universe, the film industry — all in 140 characters.

Amitabh Bachchan uses Twitter as a platform to share the latest information pertaining to his personal and professional lives. He keeps his fans updated by sharing info about his upcoming films or personal endeavours. He also shares photographs of his family regularly and keeps posting heartfelt notes every now and then. His leaving Twitter will leave it several tweets short.

On the professional front, the actor is currently busy shooting Thugs of Hindostan, which also features Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif. The Yash Raj Films production is being helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who directed Katrina and Aamir in Dhoom: 3. It is an adaptation of the 1839 novel Confessions of a Thug.
