India | December 18, 2019 19:01 ISTTo facilitate the travel of participants of the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' program, railways will grant 50 percent concession in basic fares of second/sleeper class to youngsters with earnings/emoluments of not more than Rs 5,000 per month, a statement from the ministry said. The concession has been granted as a special case only for normal train services and is not admissible in special trains or coaches, it said.

No vacancy for PwBD will be filled by any other category: Railways
Jobs | October 26, 2019 10:40 ISTThe sit-in protest, which has led to massive traffic snarls in central Delhi since October 23, is over filling up of posts reserved for persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) in the recent level-1 recruitment exercise of the Indian Railways. The protest against "irregularities" in railway recruitment in the disabled category entered the third day on Friday, the railways assured the agitators that no vacancy for 'divyangjan' will be filled by any other category.

Railways to convert 200 saloons into 10 trains to be run by IRCTC
India | October 25, 2019 16:20 ISTConceived initially as inspection cars to be exclusively used by railway officials to visit far flung areas, these saloons comprise of two bedrooms, a lounge, a pantry, a toilet and a kitchen which are built to facilitate stay for up to five days. "While a designated number of saloons will be kept for use of railway officials for inspection, 200 of them will be turned over to IRCTC and will be operated as tourist trains. Upon conversion, around ten such trains can be put into service for public use," the source said.
