Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President and Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora also said when the national anthem was adopted in 1950, the then President Rajendra Prasad had said if required the anthem would be amended in future.
'Whenever the national anthem is being played, I stand because I respect the nation,' said Anurag Kashyap.
A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra will today hear the matter of regulating the playing of national anthem in cinema halls across the country.
It had observed that it cannot be assumed that if a person does not stand up for the national anthem, he is “less patriotic” and the people “cannot be forced to carry patriotism on their sleeves.”
The Gram Panchayat of village Bhanakpur had spent about Rs eight lakh for installation of 22 CCTV cameras and 20 loudspeakers, and the control room has been set up at the house of the village sarpanch.
Directives to this effect were already in place for all government-run schools. Now they will also apply to the 800-odd hostels, an official said.
Sonu Nigam said although he respects his national anthem, he believes it shouldn’t be played on cinema halls and restaurants.
