Jammu and Kashmir: The protesters daubed 'India' on the main gate of the Hurriyat's central building and brought down the signboard of the separatist amalgam, the officials said.
The official said money raised through this process, as a token of incentive, was also distributed among families of killed terrorists and families of active militants to boost their morale and carry forward anti-national, subversive, and radical activities against India.
The officials said both the factions of the Hurriyat are likely to be banned under Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, or the UAPA, under which "if the Central Government is of opinion that any association is, or has become, an unlawful association, it may, by notification in the Official Gazette, declare such association to be unlawful."
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), in its latest supplementary charge sheet filed in a terror funding case, said that the Pakistan High Commission here had organised a function and meeting where it invited Hurriyat leaders and gave them instructions on how to use funds in illegal activities.
Replying to a question about PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti advocating dialogue with the Hurriyat, Madhav said, "The Hurriyat is not in a position to dictate to the government of India when to hold talks or when not to."
BJP's J&K in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna told reporters: "We are ready for talks. Hurriyat leaders are our own people. They are residents of J&K so they are most welcome to talk to us, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but within the ambit of Indian Constitution."
