Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai reached the national capital late on Sunday night. He is scheduled to meet BJP president J P Nadda during the day.
Bommai said though the rain has receded, normal life has remained disrupted in the coastal, central, and north-west regions due to flooding and overflowing lakes and rivers, with schools and colleges shut, markets closed and roads damaged.
Newly-appointed Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday said that a direction from the BJP high command on the cabinet expansion was likely by tomorrow.
Bommai explained that he had demanded 1.5 crore doses for the state from the Union government. Mandaviya informed him that the Centre supplied 63 to 64 lakh doses to the state and though it is difficult to allot 1.5 crore doses of Covid vaccine to Karnataka, he would do his best to provide 1 crore doses for the month of August.
Earlier in the day, Bommai called on Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Bommai, who is on his 1st visit to Delhi as CM, also said the state govt will further strengthen the state health infrastructure to combat the current wave.
Bommai took oath as Chief Minister of Karnataka on July 28, two days after BS Yediyurappa tendered his resignation from the top post.
Speaking to reporters on his arrival at Hubballi on his way to flood and rain-ravaged Uttara Kannada district, he said after this visit in two or three days he will seek the leadership's time to discuss the cabinet expansion and during that visit, things may be finalized.

Bommai, who joined the BJP in 2008, belongs to the Sadara Lingayat community. His father SR Bommai had also served as Karnataka CM in 1980s.
Another father-son duo, also from Karnataka, occupied the state CM’s post: H D Deve Gowda and his son H D Kumaraswamy.

Basavaraj Bommai was on Tuesday chosen as the new chief minister of Karnataka, replacing B. S. Yediyurappa who resigned yesterday. The decision was taken at a meeting of the BJP legislature party in Bengaluru today.
