Redmi, the smartphone brand that dominates the budget segment of India has posted an official teaser of its upcoming flagship smartphone that looks promising. The teaser shows a pop-up front camera on the phone, which indicates that there won't be any notch display on the upcoming flagship.
Lu Weibing, Redmi President had already confirmed that the phone would be powered by Snapdragon 855 processor and will come with a 3.5mm audio jack. Other confirmed reports include longer battery life, good performance, better camera, higher screen to body ratio and pop-up camera design.
Other rumours suggest that the phone will come with a 6.39-inch FHD+ no-notch display, backed with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. It is likely to come with a 48 Mega Pixel primary rear camera with an 8 MP telephoto lens along with a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens. The phone is also said to come with a 32 Megapixel pop-up front camera.
Xiaomi India VP last week confirmed that the company would be launching a new Redmi smartphone that would be powered by Snapdragon 730. There were other reports that suggest a pop-up camera for this as well along with a 3.5mm audio jack. Considering this, we could see two variants of the Redmi smartphone with different CPU's.
The upcoming Redmi flagship is expected to launch in China soon, around May that could as well launch in India during the same time frame.
