Mozilla 'FireFox Lite' browser launched in India

Mozilla, the non-profit open web has officially launched the ‘Firefox Lite’ today. This is the fast and lightweight mobile browsing platform that has been launched with a strategic partnership with Times Internet and DB Digital to deliver best-in-class content to users and also has on-boarded MoMagic that is an intelligent marketing company as distribution partners to expand its reach.

Interestingly, the Firefox Lite is an incredibly fast and lightweight Android browser. It is 4MB in size and is a privacy-focused browser.

Joe Cheng, Head of Product Mozilla Asia said, “India is the second largest online market worldwide and a mobile-first country and is projected to grow to 666.4 million in 2023. Majority of India’s Internet users are mobile phone Internet users who take advantage of entry-level alternatives to expensive landline connections that require desktop PCs and infrastructure. This presents us with a huge opportunity to empower them with better than ever mobile browsing experiences.”

Key Highlights of Firefox Lite: It's Fast, lightweight and private

The Firefox Lite comes with a standout feature called the Turbo Mode that aids in blocking third-party trackers and renders less data consumption, allowing the websites to load fast.

Another important factor of the Firefox Lite is that it is less than 4MB that makes it 10 percent of the size in comparison to the other browsers in the market, which makes it easy to update without having to worry about spending a lot of data on updating the app.

Most importantly, the app is private that allows advertisers and websites to often use web trackers for broad user data collection and targeted advertising. The app comes with private browsing and tracking protection that allows users to browse without getting traced.

“We continue to focus on providing tools and capabilities to our users and are always on a quest to discover and engage with newer partners to make our platform more agile. We aim to make Firefox Lite not just the best app for browsing and searching online but make it more engaging for our users and offer quality content such as news, games, shopping, travel deals and more,” added Joe Cheng.
