Ukraine, Jun 11: Markus Rosenberg will start up front for Sweden in Monday's European Championship match against Ukraine after coach Erik Hamren decided not to risk selecting first-choice striker Johan Elmander.
Sweden's lineup was named hours before the Group D match on its federation's website, with Elmander on the bench having only just recovered from fracturing his right foot.
Sweden assistant coach Marcus Allback says “it isn't the best idea for Johan to start today” as there are several matches in a short space of time.
Rosenberg will play just in front of star forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been used in a withdrawn role by Hamren in recent games.
Ireland is the only other team to have named its team in advance of the mandatory hour before a group match.
