Islamabad, Aug 13: Pakistan on Monday dropped former captain Younis Khan and recalled wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal for the three-match one-day international series against Australia later this month.

Akmal has not played international cricket since last year's World Cup, and appeared before the Pakistan Cricket Board integrity committee last month.

Khan, who has played 245 ODIs, is apparently being left out after scoring just 10 runs in three innings against Sri Lanka in the one-day series in June.

The selectors also left out senior fast bowler Umar Gul, who took just four wickets against Sri Lanka in four ODIs. He has been replaced by fast bowler Anwar Ali in the 16-member squad.

The one-day series against Australia begins Aug. 28 in the United Arab Emirates, followed by three Twenty20 matches.

Squad:
Misbah-ul-Haq (captain), Nasir Jamshaid, Mohammad Hafeez, Imran Farhat, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Umar Akmal, Kamran Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Sohail Tanvir, Aizaz Cheema, Saeed Ajmal, Shoaib Malik, Abdul Rehman, Junaid Khan, Anwar Ali.
