Colombo, Feb 11 : Two World Cup warm-up matches have been shifted from their orginal venue in Pallekele in central Sri Lanka to the capital Colombo after persistent rain hampered pitch preparation.
The International Cricket Council said the Sri Lanka-Netherlands game and Netherlands vs. Kenya scheduled on Saturday and Tuesday respectively will now be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.
A plan to play the matches in the southern district of Hambantota, another new venue, was also abandoned due to rain. The switches means co-host Sri Lanka will go into the World Cup without match practice on these grounds. AP
