The PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) took centre stage and announced Pakistan's 15-member squad for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup 2026. Salman Ali Agha will be leading the side in the tournament, with the likes of Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Saim Ayub, and many more stars being included in the squad as well.
Notably, Pakistan has been placed in Group A of the tournament alongside the likes of India, Namibia, the Netherlands, and the USA. The side will hope to put in good performances in the group stages and make it through to the latter stages of the competition.
The 15 names that will be participating in the World Cup were announced in a press conference addressed by the PCB Director of High Performance and member of the men’s national selection committee Aqib Javed, Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Ali Agha and white-ball head coach Mike Hesson.
Pakistan set to face the Netherlands to kick off World Cup campaign
To kick off their World Cup 2026 campaign, the Men in Green will be facing the Netherlands. The two sides will lock horns at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo, on February 7, which is the opening day of the tournament.
It is also worth noting that before the start of the World Cup, Pakistan will also face Australia in a three-game T20I series. The Aussies will be travelling to Pakistan for the series, and the games are slated to be held on January 29, 31, and February 1.
