Kolkata: West Indies were bowled out for 234 runs on Day one of the historic Eden Gardens Test (Sachin Tendulkar's 199th) on Wednesday, with debutant pace bowler Mohammed Shami taking four wickets for 71. India bowled out the West Indies in the first innings shortly after tea. At close of Day 1, India were 37 for no loss, Shikhar Dhawan was batting on 21 and Murali Vijay 16. India are trailing by 197 runs. For the visitors, Marlon Samuels was the top scorer with 65 while Shivnarine Chanderpaul made 36.Besides Shami, offie Ravichandran Ashwin bagged two for 52 while Bhuvneshwar Kumar got one for 33. The cynosure of all eyes Sachin Tendulkar also took a wicket, that of Shillingford minutes before tea. Sachin is now four wickets short of his 50 Test wickets.Sachin bowled leg before to Shillingford, as the crowd erupted at the Eden Gardens stands erupted in joy. Fans wearing Indian tricolour shouted 'Sachin Sachin' as they trooped into the stands in large numbers of Wednesday morning. The visitors were 192 for seven at tea on the opening day of the first Test. Tendulkar, playing his penultimate Test, had Shane Shillingford plumb in front off the fourth ball, sending the sizeable Eden crowd into a frenzy.
