Shubman Gill created history by breaking Sunil Gavaskar's record for most runs by an Indian captain in a Test series. The 25-year-old achieved the feat in the five-match Test series against England. In the fifth Test at the Oval, he surpassed Gavaskar and now owns the record with 743 runs to his name. He is expected to add more in the second innings of the final Test.

In that series, the 36-year-old smacked 655 runs in five matches, at an average of 109.16. He hit two centuries and two half-centuries in the same series.

He hit three centuries and a half-century in the same series.
