New Delhi The ninth edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League is just half-way through and we have already witnessed some swashbuckling batting performances. Surprisingly, four of the top five run scorers are the captains of their respective teams. Here is a list of the top five batsmen of IPL 9 till date.
Virat Kohli Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has been in sublime batting form since the Asia Cup and has continued to showcase his exquisite batting skills in IPL. In the ongoing tournament, he tops the list of batsmen with most runs. Kohli has so far made 919 runs in fifteen matches with an average of 83.54, including four centuries and six half centuries.
David Warner Standing on the second position is Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper and T20 specialist David Warner. His 458 runs in nine innings include five half centuries with an average of 65.42 and a whopping strike rate of 164.
Ajinkya Rahane Rahane has shown what he is capable of with bat. He has scored 417 runs in 10 matches with an average of 52.12 that include six half centuries.
Gautam Gambhir Captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, Gambhir has also shown his skills as a class batsman. He has scored 398 runs in ten matches with four half centuries.
Rohit Sharma Defending champions Mumbai Indians may not be performing well in the league, but, their skipper Rohit Sharma surely is in an exquisite batting form. With 388 runs in ten innings, Sharma stands fifth in the list of top run scorers of the ongoing IPL 2016.
