Fastest to 7000 runs in ODI cricket

Longevity has been a problem when it comes to play the longer formats like Tests and ODIs these days. With the emergence of T20Is, majority of the players are not adept to playing ODIs. But there have been a few players in history who excelled in the format.

Hashim Amla is on top of this list, having reached the 7000-run mark in the ODI format in just 150 innings. He did so at the iconic Lord's in London during the match against England. Amla took 9 years and 81 days to cross the said mark in the 50-over format. He had made his ODI debut in March 2008 and completed 7000 runs in May 2017.

He completed 7000 runs in his illustrious ODI career in 159 innings against South Africa in Lahore during the Champions Trophy this year. He made his ODI debut in August 2010 and it took him a staggering 14 years and 184 days to reach the milestone.

Kane Williamson of New Zealand is the next best in this aspect. He completed 7000 runs in his illustrious ODI career in 159 innings against South Africa in Lahore during the Champions Trophy this year. He made his ODI debut in August 2010 and it took him a staggering 14 years and 184 days to reach the milestone.
Virat Kohli of India is third, having reached 7000 runs in his ODI career in just 161 innings. In terms of time taken, he is the fastest as it took him only 7 years and 152 days to reach the milestone since his debut. For the unversed, Kohli made his ODI debut back in August 2008 and completed 7000 runs in January 2016 at the iconic MCG against Australia.

He did so against Australia at the WACA Stadium in Perth in November 2014. De Villiers made his debut in the format in February 2005 and it took him 9 years and 285 days to complete the said mark in the 50-over format.
