PM Modi visited Karnataka's Udupi as he took part in a mega roadshow, with people thronging the streets to catch a glimpse of the PM. Modi will visit the Sri Krishna Matha and will participate in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana, where one lakh devotees chant the Bhagavad Gita together.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday led a mega roadshow in Karnataka's Udupi as the PM visited the historic Shri Krishna Matha. The temple town turned into a festive season with hundreds thronging the street from where the PM's convoy passed.

The security was tightened during the PM's visit to Udupi, with over 3000 police officials deployed on duty. This included 10 SPs, 27 DSPs, 49 inspectors, 127 sub-inspectors, 232 assistant SIs, 1,608 constables, and 39 women staff.

As Modi reached the town, many people thronged the street to catch a glimpse of the PM, who waved to the crowd. People welcomed Modi with flowers, with the saffron flags also on display.

Apart from the 300 police officials, six Karnataka State Reserve Police platoons and six Quick Response Teams were also stationed throughout the town. Also, the bomb detection and dog squads conducted checks along the route between the helipad and the Matha.

The PM will visit the Sri Krishna Matha and will participate in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana, where one lakh devotees chant the Bhagavad Gita together. Modi will also inaugurate the new Suvarna Teertha Mantapa.

The PM arrived in Udupi on Friday morning. According to the schedule, the PM "will first offer floral tributes to saint-poet Kanakadasa and then unveil the golden covering placed over the Kanakana Kindi," Paryaya Puttige Math seer Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji said.

Meanwhile, ahead of his visit to Udupi, the PM had shared his thoughts about visiting the town. "This is a special gathering that brings together people from different sections of society for a recital of the Gita. This Matha has a very special significance in our cultural life. Inspired by Sri Madhvacharya, it has been at the forefront of serving society,” the PM had written.
