Lagaan-- 'Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India' is a 2001 sports drama film written and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. Set in 1893, during the late Victorian period of India's colonial British Raj, the film follows the inhabitants of a village in central India, who, burdened by high taxes and several years of drought, are challenged by an arrogant British Indian Army officer to a game of cricket as a wager to avoid paying the taxes they owe.

83 The Film: Ranveer Singh essayed the role of former Indian cricket skipper Kapil Dev in '83'. The film showcases the journey of India's triumph at the 1983 World Cup. MS Dhoni The Untold Story: A cricket film of this scale of a living cricket legend has never been attempted before. Being a biopic, the movie reveals some lesser known as well as unknown facts about the 35-year-old ace cricketer. To make it as realistic as possible, the movie has been shot at real locations which have strong relevance in Dhoni's life including his house in Ranchi, in his school, at Kharagpur station where Dhoni was stationed as the TT. Helmed by director Neeraj Pandey, the film starred Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role.

Jersey: Helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, 'Jersey' revolves around Arjun (played by Shahid), a failed cricketer who decides to fulfil his dream of representing Team India for happiness of his son. Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur are also a part of the film, which is the Hindi remake of the Telugu film of the same name.

Azhar: Azhar is a 2016 Indian Hindi biographical sports drama film with Emraan Hashmi in the lead. The film directed by Tony D'Souza is inspired by the life of Indian cricketer and former national team captain Mohammad Azharuddin. The film is produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor for Sony Pictures Networks.

Patiala House: With Akshay Kumar in the lead, this film also features Anushka Sharma and Rishi Kapoor. The sports drama film directed by Nikkhil Advani is loosely based on Monty Panesar, a former English cricketer.

Dil Bole Hadippa: Dil Bole Hadippa stars Rani Mukerji and Shahid Kapoor. It is a story about a young woman who pretends to be a man to join an all-male cricket team. The film also Anupam Kher, Dalip Tahil, Rakhi Sawant and Sherlyn Chopra in supporting roles.
