October is Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film which is helmed by Piku fame Shoojit Sircar. It features the newbie actress Banita Sandhu in the lead role. The major portions of the film have been shot in New Delhi, which is also Sircar’s favourite city. It also has few sequences showing the green landscape of Himachal Pradesh. It is slated to release on April 13.
Varun Dhawan will be playing the role of a hotel management student working in a five star hotel as his training program. He meets Shiuli (Banita Sandhu) during his training, who is crushing on her secretly. The actor went sleepless for days to get into the skin of his character Dan.
According to the reports, Varun Dhawan also slashed his fee by 50% for Shoojit Sircar’s October, since the flick is a small-budget film. It is made on a meagre budget of Rs 20 crore.
Talking about Banita Sandhu, the actress hails from Wales, United Kingdom. Though, she’s a fresh face for Bollywood, she has featured in many advertisements one of which is directed by Shoojit Sircar himself.
October marks first collaboration of Shoojit Sircar and Varun Dhawan. Sircar has delivered some of the hit films like Piku, Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe before. Varun was the first choice for this film and after going through the script, he agreed to do the role straightaway.
October is reportedly inspired by a Hollywood flick Her. In Her, the actor falls in love with an interactive smart user interface voiced by a woman. However, in October, the UI is replaced by a woman suffering from a medical condition.
According to the reports, the shooting of October was wrapped up in short span of just 38 days!
