New Delhi: Terrorist groups are active in most of the countries across the globe since the Sixties.Some of these groups were exterminated by state agencies, but other deadlier groups replaced them, with Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda leading from the front. Terror attacks like 9/11 will be remembered as a major turning point in world history. Here is a list of ten most dangerous terrorist groups: 1. Al Qaeda Al Qaeda is one of the biggest terrorist groups around the world now led by Ayman al-Zawahiri. This is an extremist Islamic group that was created by Osama Bin Laden and was established in the year 1898. He planned the horrendous September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Osama was feared across the globe for his integrated terrorist system and powerful strategies. This group consists of many thousands of people who have gone through years of military training and are situated all over the world. Osama was killed in a US commando action in Abbottabad, Pakistan. 2. Hamas Hamas is a socio political group of Palestine that was discovered in 1897. This is an organization that was created with the aim of Jihad in mind and to release the Palestine citizens from being in Israeli subjugation. This group is quite popular for its deadly suicide bombers and is supported by Hezbollah in order to kill the Israeli civilians in the country. It's current leader is Khaled Meshaal. 3. Taliban Taliban is a word that is derived from “students”. Taliban governed Afghanistan for around six years. It has been at a war against the NATO and also the governments of the countries of Pakistan and Afghanistan since 2001. This deadly terrorist group was first found by the Pashto tribes and has received a lot of support from the Muslim countries.Their leader is the one-eyed Mullah Omar hiding somewhere in Pakistan. 4. Hezbollah Hezbollah is a group that is backed up by Lebanon, Syria and also Iran. Led by Hassan Nasrallah, this terrorist group first emerged due to the Lebanese Civil war and ever since then it is one of the most terrifying groups for the Arab countries. The Central Intelligence Agency has reported that around forty percent of the Lebanese population is involved in the activities of Hezbollah in one way or another. 5. The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam This is one of the most deadly terrorists group in Sri Lanka. It was first set up by Velupillai Prabhakaran and had one of the most sophisticated and organized military forces. In the year 2009, this group was decimated by the Sri Lankan army. People still remember this group for its devilish record of killing high profile Indian and Sri Lankan politicians. This group was one of the main reasons that led to the Sri Lankan Civil War. Kurdistan Worker's Party Best known as PKK, this group was established on November 27, 1978 in Turkey and since then it has been fighting for the sake of an independent Kurdish state. Face of an international terror, PKK's working region constitutes Turkey, Iran, Syria and Iraq and it is also enlisted by a number of counter-terrorism agencies as a deadly international organization. It is led by Cemil Bayik and Abdullah Öcalan. 7. Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia This Marxist-Leninist terrorist group of Colombia is better known by its acronym – “FARC” and is considered as the kingpin of illegal drug trade across the world. This organization was established in 1964 and currently it constitutes approximately 12 thousand combatants with thousands of supporters from the rural areas. The obtained extortion money from multinational corporations and wealthier classes is invested for the betterment of poor peoples. 8. Jamaat Ansar al-Sunna Founded in September 2003, this Iraqi guerrilla force opposes the government led by Nouri al-Maliki as well as the forces of United States in Iraq. Led by Abu Abdullah al-Shafi'i and Mullah Krekar, this terrorist group is grounded in central and northern Iraq and is said to be linked with several Islamic organizations operating in Iraq. Armed Islamic Group of Algeria (GIA) With an endeavor to overrule the Algerian government, this terrorist group was founded in July 1992 and became notorious in 1994, after hijacking the “Air France Flight 8969″. Since then it has conducted a deadly crusade of killing innocent civilians, bombarding public places, kidnapping and raping in its area of operation. This terrorist group asserts the ideology that “political pluralism is equivalent to sedition”. This creed was generated in 1992, after a controversial decision of Algeria's Military Government which blocked the political ways of a mainstream Islamic party, Islamic Salvation Front.
