New Delhi: Wildlife tourism in India is growing by leaps and bounds. India, a tropical country, is rich in wildlife and vibrant eco-systems. There are several major tiger reserves and wildlife sanctuaries. A wildlife tour gives one an opportunity to witness the habitat and dwellings of wild animals, apat from observing their daily behaviour. Wildlife photographers and wildlife lovers love to visit these sanctuaries and forests. Jim Corbett National Park This famous tiger reserve is located in Uttrakhand. It was named after the famous tiger hunter Jim Corbett. This wildlife sanctuary is declared a heritage sanctuary. It is divided into four zones. This thick dense forest has lots of tigers but it is hard to spot them during daytime. Three zones of forest are very dense and they have wild animals moving around.Jeeps Safari is the most convenient way to travel within Corbett national park, and can be rented for the park trips from Ramnagar.Tourists are not allowed to have a walk inside the park, but they are allowed to go for trekking around the park, only with a guide. This place becomes very cold in the winter season, so tourists should make proper arrangements for themselves, if they are traveling in the winter season.Kanha National Park This famous wild life sanctuary is located in horse shoe valley. It is in Madhya Pradesh. This wildlife gives you a high chance of spotting tigers roaming around. It carries a high population of tigers roaming around. It is one of the famous tiger reserves in India.The park has a large breeding population of Leopards, and various species of deer. Maharaja Martand Singh of Rewa captured the first white tiger in this region in 1951. This white tiger, Mohan, is now stuffed and on display in the palace of the Maharajas of Rewa.Kaziranga National Park This national park is in Assam, located on the borders of Nepal and Bangladesh is densely populated with many wild animals. It is full of wild buffalos, elephants, rhinoceros, birds and many more. The world famed single-horn rhinoceros can be found in Kaziranga.A World Heritage Site, the park hosts two-thirds of the world's Great One-horned Rhinoceroses.Kaziranga boasts the highest density of tigers among protected areas in the world and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. Gir National Park This famous wildlife sanctuary is in Gujarat. It does not have any tiger in it, but it is full of lions and leopards.It is the sole home of the pure Asiatic Lions (Panthera leo persica) and is considered to be one of the most important protected areas in Asia due to its supported species. The ecosystem of Gir, with its diverse flora and fauna, is protected as a result of the efforts of the government forest department, wildlife activists and NGOs. The forest area of Gir and its lions were declared as "protected" in the early 1900s by the then Nawab of the princely state of Junagadh. This initiative assisted in the conservation of the lions whose population had plummeted to only 15 through slaughter for trophy hunting.Ranthambore National Park This tiger reserve is in Rajasthan is a historic heritage park. It houses a ruined fort and a huge number of tigers. If you are lucky you can watch a tiger, but the tiger population has been declining due to the nefarious activities of poachers.Tigers can be easily spotted even during the day time. A good time to visit Ranthambore National Park is in November and May when the nature of the dry deciduous forests makes sightings common. Its deciduous forests were once a part of the magnificent jungles of Central India.
