Jaipur: Three persons were killed and nearly 30 houses were set on fire  in a communal clash between two communities  in Kotadi village of Rajasthan's Pratapgarh district.

Curfew has been clamped in the village and large deployment of police has been made.

The clash flared up on Jan 14 evening, after both Muslim and Rajput communities celebrated Eid Miladun Nabi and Makar Sankranti peacefully, and two groups of young men began to quarrel over some remarks made by one of the groups.

The youths collected more people and then began an orgy of firing and arson.

The violence spread to the neighbouring village of Moheda, and in all three persons were killed, officials said.

Kotadi has a population of nearly 3,000, of which nearly 700 are Muslims, and the others belong to Rajput and Gaeri communities.
