This assembly election also proved lucky for TDP veteran Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, who was initially denied ticket because of the seat adjustment with BJP, but accommodated in Rajahmundry Rural constituency in the last minute. He clinched the seat now, after having lost the last two elections.

Gollapalli Surya Rao, who served as minister in the YS Rajasekhara Reddy cabinet, won as the TDP candidate from Razole in East Godavari district. He is returning to the Assembly after a five-year gap.

Former Congress minister Mandali Buddha Prasad, who switched over to the TDP on the eve of the elections, won the Avanigadda Assembly seat in Krishna district, which he lost in 2009.

Former government Chief Whip Kagita Venkata Rao is also returning to the Assembly after a decade.

The two-time MLA and former minister Alapati Rajendra Prasad, who was unsuccessful in the 2004 and 2009 elections, tasted success from Tenali Assembly constituency in Guntur district, trouncing former Speaker Nadendla Manohar, who had won the Tenali seat in the last two elections.

Among other TDP leaders, former MLAs Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, Gouthu Shyam Sunder Sivaji, Gadde Ramamohan and Sidda Raghava Rao have also been re-elected to the Assembly after a long gap.

Gadde had also served as Lok Sabha member from 1999 to 2004, but lost the last two elections.

Jaleel Khan, a former Congress MLA, has been elected to the Assembly this time on behalf of YSR Congress after a decade-long gap.
