Shirdi, Jul 8 : In perhaps the first incident of its kind at the Sai Baba shrine in Shirdi, a devotee from Pune R K Gaekwad on June 12 offered a red-coloured golden chadar embellished with diamonds on the samadhi of the 20th century Sai Baba, but later it was found to be fake.
At the time of offering the chadar, it was claimed that there were 1250 gm of golden thread and diamonds on the chadar, but both the gold and diamonds have been found to be fake.
Says Ashok Khambekar, a trustee of Sai Baba Sansthan Trust: "We are trying to get in touch with Mr Gaekwad. Both the gold and diamonds have been found to be fake during gold assay."
The devotee had then claimed that the chadar costed Rs 25 lakhs.
