Ahmedabad: Acting on a controversy over Modi's address to media and he showing party symbol ‘Lotus' after casting vote, district returning officer today submitted a preliminary report before the state chief electoral officer.
Ahmedabad Collector and Returning Officer Roopwant Singh replied in positive when asked whether the Election Commission has sought any report on the row over Modi's address to the media and he flashing the party symbol.
“We have sent a report to the CEO. We have sent a preliminary report. Shall submit video clip,” Singh said.
As per the Election Commission norms, if a party candidate canvasses within the radius of 100 metres of a polling booth, then he can be booked for violation of model code of conduct.
Earlier today, Modi addressed the media immediately after casting his vote at a school in Ranip area of Ahmedabad.
