Dehradun, Jul 26 :  Yoga guru Ramdev's aide  Balakrishna has gone “missing” two days after the CBI had registered a case against him for allegedly furnishing fake educational degree for procuring a passport, police said today.

A missing persons report has been lodged in Kankhal police station in Haridwar late last night by Balakrishna's bodyguard Jayendra Singh Aswal. According to the report, Aswal reached Balkrishna's DivyaYog ashram residence to accompany him to his Patanjali office yesterday but Balkrishna asked him to go to the office alone saying that he would leave later.

However, Aswal said, he waited till late in the evening but Balkrishna did not come. After returning to Divya Yog ashram, Aswal inquired about him but his whereabouts could not be known following which he filed the report with the police.  The police team today reached Divya Yog ashram and questioned its officials regarding Balkrishna's whereabouts.  However, it was told that Balkrishna had gone for some “urgent work” and he would soon return to the ashram.

The officials of ashram, denied having any knowledge as to where Balkrishna had gone for work, police said. The CBI has issued a look-out notice against Balkrishna after it registered a case against him under section 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) for procuring the fake degree and violation of section 12 of the Indian Passport Act (knowingly furnishing false documents for getting passport).

The agency had also approached the External Affairs Ministry seeking revocation of Balkrishna's passport. Meanwhile, Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police Kewal Khurana said the police wouldinvestigate all the missing cases of Haridwar including that of Shankar Dev, Guru of Baba Ramdev.

Shankar Dev had gone missing from his Haridwar ashram four years ago.

Meanwhile, according to a Times of India report from Lucknow, Balkrihsna is all set to lose his “Acharya” title. The world renowned Sampoornanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi, which had purportedly awarded the Acharya degree, on Monday said that the document was completely a forged one.

Sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday have already registered two cases of crime against him.on Monday, Swami Ramdev repeatedly insisted that all the documents related to the educational qualification of Balkrishna were completely genuine.

Badly running out of luck, Balkrishna is set to face a couple of more FIRs soon. This time to be lodged with the Uttar Pradesh Police (UPP) by the educational institutes in Varanasi and Khurja (Bulandshahr) accusing him of being involved in procuring forged certificates related to educational qualification from the said institutes.

The report said, Balkrishna may even fall within the ambit of a high level inquiry that the Uttarakhand government is contemplating into the mysterious disappearance of birth/death related records from Haridwar Nagar Palika that came to light after the CBI sought details of the said records from the municipal body in June.

On the other hand, even as Ramdev continued to insist in Delhi on Monday that his trusted lieutenant was present in Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar and discharging his daily chores, the institute administration refused to comment on his whereabouts all through the day till late on Monday night.

Sampoornanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya's vice-chancellor professor Binda Prasad Mishra on Monday morning confirmed that Balkrishna's ‘Acharya' degree - a copy of which was furnished to them for verification by the CBI has been found to be a forged one.

The university authorities have found some unlawful and incomplete entries in their records against the serial number of the degree available with Balkrishna.

Sources said, “Roll number against which the serial number of the degree available with Balkrishna was released, belongs to a resident of Varanasi who has been a legitimate student of the Sampoornanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya.”

”There is sufficient evidence to establish that the documents have been fudged and tampered with to create a fake degree in the name of Balkrishna.

”It is now a matter of probe, as to who all have been involved in the act right from the staff of the university to the beneficiaries in the case,” the V-C said, adding,”All the documents related to the fraud have been sealed.”

A couple of hours after Ramdev talking to the media held SSV administration responsible for the fudging and incomplete entries against serial number of the Acharya degree in possession with Balkrishna, the SSV administration declared that an FIR will soon be lodged with the police to find out all those involved in the criminal act.

Earlier, the university has already declared the Madhyama (equivalent to class X) and Shastri (graduation degree) certificates purportedly issued to Balkrishna by Radhe Krishna Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya in Khurja (Bulandshahr), affiliated to the SSV, as fake on July 22, 2011.

The college authorities on Monday said that they would be lodging a formal criminal case in connection with the incident, once the internal inquiry of the institute, which is underway, was complete.

In Deoria , Uttar Pradesh, BJP leader Uma Bharti today accused the Centre of implicating Ramdev's key aide Balkrishna in a fake case to take “revenge” on the yoga guru.

“The Centre is trying to take revenge on yoga guru Ramdev,” Bharti told reporters here.

She alleged that a Congress general secretary has also threatened noted activist Anna Hazare with similar consequences which Ramdev faced. PTI
