Navi Mumbai, July 26: Satyananda Maharaj alias Satish Sadashiv Naik (40) was arrested by local police on Monday on charge of raping a 16-year-old girl inside the temple premises, police said.
The girl used to collect monthly saving deposits for a co-operative credit society, when Naik gave her a spiked drink and then raped her in the month of May. Later, he raped the girl several times after giving her threats to kill.
After the girl became pregnant, her mother informed Rawale police station and the priest was nabbed. Naik was working as a priest at Varad Vinayak Temple in Sec-4 Aaroli for the last 15 years, police said.
