Mumbai: An abandoned 100-acre government colony in Bandra (East) is now serving as a hangout spot for love birds and hideout for drug addicts, gangs, and slumdwellers.

An English tabloid reported that the Public Works Department left the buildings unattended around six months ago, Now residents fear something untoward like the Shakti Mills gangrape incident might happen here.

The colony  has 4000 flats in ground-plus-three-storey buildings and was built between 1958 and 1968.

Local residents allege the building has become host to all kinds of clandestine activities, ever since authorities declared 10 sections unsafe and had them evacuated.
