Ranchi: Following are the names of key accused figuring in the Chaibasa fodder scam in which the special CBI court in Ranchi will deliver verdict.
Accused politicians:
Lalu Prasad Yadav (former Bihar CM), Dr Jagannath Mishra (former Bihar CM), Jagdish Sharma, R K Rana, Dhruv Bhagat, Vidya Sagar Nishad, Bholaram Toofani (died during trial), Chandra Verma (died during trial)
Accused bureaucrats:
Phool Chand Singh (then Finance Commissioneer), Mahesh Prasad (then Animal Husbandry secretary), Beck Julius (then Animal Husbandry Secretary), K. Arumugam (then Animal Husbandry secretary), Adheek Chandra Das (then Income Tax Commissioner, Ranchi)
So far nearly 200 accused have been convicted in fodder scams. CBI had filed a total of 64 FIRs. Out of this, nearly 400 accused were convicted in 45 cases.
Lalu Prasad is accused of fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 35.70 crore from Chaibasa treasury, said to ve the "Mother of all fodder scams".
Lalu Prasad tried to get the judge Pravash Kumar Singh changed by filing a petition in Supreme Court, but the apex court rejected his plea.
He then eyed the ordinance which provided protection to MPs and MLAs convicted for two years jail and more, so that he would keep his Lok Sabha seat, but a sudden and dramatic intervention by Rahul Gandhi put paid to his hopes.
Another key politician awaiting his fate is Congress MP from UP Rashid Masood, who has been convicted in Medical Colleges admission scam, and the sentence will be pronounced on October 1.
