New Delhi: Members of 2014 IAS probationers' batch on Saturday came out in support of Saurabh Jain, the officer in the Mussoorie training academy accused of taking bribe by woman who has been arrested for allegedly impersonating as a probationer to stay at the institution for six months.

Expressing solidarity with Jain, the probationers at the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) said they shall strive to assert the truth and preserve the integrity of the civil services in times to come.

"Since past few days all of us have been in deep anguish over the alleged malicious, allegations levelled against you by Ruby Chaudhry (the women concerned). It was unfortunate media chose to highlight her allegations without going into her credibility. However, after the press release by the Academy, we hope things are put in proper perspective and objective facts pertinent to the case brought into public discourse.

"We hereby affirm the strong sense of solidarity with you Sir and the Academy, and reaffirm our respect and unflinching faith in the institution that puts ethics above everything else. We shall strive to assert the truth and preserve the integrity of the civil services in times to come, undeterred by the malicious campaigns by some vested interests," the Phase I probationers said in a letter to Jain.

Chaudhry, who allegedly impersonated as an IAS probationer and spent six months at the Mussoorie academy, had accused Jain of issuing her a fake ID card to facilitate her stay there and taking Rs five lakh from her as part of the Rs 20 lakh deal to get her a job at the institute.

Following a SIT probe in the matter after a complaint was registered in this regard on Tuesday, Chaudhry was arrested yesterday and sent to 14 days judicial custody today.

The academy and Jain have rejected the allegations.

The LBSNAA had in a statement yesterday said the allegations of false promise of job to Chaudhry were "baseless", "malicious" and hence are "categorically denied".

According to an FIR lodged by local police against Chaudhry on Tuesday, the woman arrived at the Academy on September 20 last year and introduced herself as a trainee IAS officer and stayed there for a little over six months before mysteriously disappearing on March 27, official sources said.

Following the case, Uttarakhand police formed a Special Investigation Team to probe the matter.
