Mumbai: Counting of votes for all 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra where 897 candidates are in the fray would take place tomorrow amid tight security arrangements.


There will be 40 counting centres for the constituencies, including four in Mumbai, a senior official from the State Chief Electoral office told PTI.

The results will decide electoral fortunes of political biggies like Union ministers Sushilkumar Shinde(Solapur), Praful Patel (Bhandara-Gondiya), BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari (Nagpur) and Gopinath Munde (Beed), NCP chief Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule (Baramati) and former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan (Nanded) of Congress.

Among other prominent candidates in the election arena are PWD Minister and NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal (Nashik), Union minister Milind Deora (Mumbai South) of Congress and Water Resources Minister and NCP leader Sunil Tatkare (Raigad).

Polling in the state was held in three phases on April 10, 17 and 24. While the first phase covered 10 seats in Vidarbha the second phase covered 19 constituencies in Marathwada and western Maharashtra.

The third and final phase covered remaining 19 seats across Mumbai and north Maharashtra.Maharashtra registered overall polling percentage at 60.42, with 4.87 crore of total eligible 8.06 crore voters exercising their right to franchise.
