Shimla : Congress yesterday attacked the BJP during the debate on motion of thanks on Governor's address saying the Opposition was adopting disruptive tactics to scuttle discussions on major issues.

Moving the motion of thanks, Congress MLA Sanjay Rattan termed the Opposition party as ‘natak mandali' (theatre group) bent upon disrupting the proceedings of the House.

Rattan attacked BJP MP Anurag Thakur for allegedly converting the state cricket body from a registered society into a company, and claimed all efforts of the BJP were focused on scuttling the Chief Minister's drive against corruption.

He said “charges of corruption against the BJP government were being probed by vigilance and fearing action, Dhumal had started levelling allegations against Chief Minister.” The Congress MLA thanked party chief Sonia Gandhi and its vice-president Rahul Gandhi for backing Virbhadra Singh and refusing to give any credence to Dhumal's allegations.

Supporting the motion, another Congress MLA Bambar Thakur launched a scathing attack on Dhumal and his sons for allegedly converting a prime government land at Dharamsala into their private property to build a cricket stadium.

Bambar said nobody can stop the government from taking action against Dhumal for committing alleged irregularities during his regime.

He also criticised the BJP for disrupting the House and pledged support of the Congress MLAs and independent to the Chief Minister.

The MLA asked for expediting the probe into all corruption allegations against Dhumal.  Transport Minister G S Bali also accused the BJP of building undue pressures by making false and baseless charges against the Chief Minister.

Bali said there should not be any media trial and issues which were in the courts should not be raised in the House.

He accused the BJP government of leaving a liability of Rs 387 crores for the Congress government in the HRTC and another Rs 350 crores in the state Civil Supplies Corporation.

He rejected the charges of ration shortage at the PDS depots, which he claimed were having 90 to 100 per cent quota already lifted from the stores.

The Congress members were more vocal in attacking the BJP as its members were not present in the house and had staged a walkout.
