Patna, Jul 11: An innovative helicopter with four rotor engines depicted in Bollywood flick '3 Idiots' has turned out to be an inspiration for Nitesh Kumar, an engineering student hailing from Patna.
He has successfully designed an indigenous model of a chopper that he demonstrated before a group of aero-modelling enthusiasts and the media persons here on Sunday.
A student of Mohali-based Chandigarh Engineering College, Kumar has built a 'quadrotor' that can fly at a considerable altitude and upto a distance of around 100 metres.
Kumar claimed that the device is an ideal aid for aerial surveillance.
The prototype has a GPS system, three cameras and micro-controlled processor and while in flight, it can simultaneously send live video footage to a computer screen.
Kumar, who is in the fourth semester of his degree course, toiled for a year to design and assemble this prototype, which he has named as A Heart's Wing.
He wishes for assistance from the state government to enhance his prototype model.
"So far I have done everything on my own. I want to be guided in the right direction and if the state government provides some assistance, then we can further modify my innovative creation," Kumar said.
Kumar added that he would like to increase the accuracy for automated flight, after which it could be operated by a person positioned in a single location.
