New Delhi, Apr 30: A shocking number of 3,389 children were reported missing from the capital during the past three years, Lok Sabha was informed Tuesday.A total of 8,147 people above the age of 18-years

New Delhi, Apr 30: A shocking number of 3,389 children were reported missing from the capital during the past three years, Lok Sabha was informed Tuesday.




A total of 8,147 people above the age of 18-years have also been reported missing to Delhi Police from 2010 till April 15 this year, Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran said in a statement.

The data explains that the number of missing cases in Delhi are gradually increasing every year.

A total of 5,091 children were reported missing in 2010, in which 771 are untraced. In 2011, about 5,111 children were missing, out of which 833 continue to remain untraced.

The number of children reported missing in 2012 were 5,284, in which 1,176 are still untraced. This year till April 15, out of 1,766 missing children, 609 remain untraced.

Likewise, In 2010, 7,504 people above the 18-years of age were reported missing, in which 1,878 remain untraced. A total of 2,353 people are yet to be traced, out of 8,801 people reported missing in 2011.

In 2012, out of 9,988 reported missing, 2,688 remain to be untraced. About 1,228 people out of 3,353 people reported missing this year till April 15, continue to remain untraced.

The minister said for recording the missing and found people, there is a "zonal integrated police network" programme, in which information about the missing or found is immediately uploaded on the website by the Delhi Police.
