Patna: Ruckus started during  JNUSU leader Kanhaiya Kumar's speech at an event in Patna today when a protestor turned up and showed black flag to him.

The protestor was roughed up by Kanhaiya's supporters, following which the police intervened and detained him.

Kumar was addressing a meeting in Patna with ‘Azadi’ being the dominant theme.

The JNUSU president is on a two-day tour to Bihar where he met the Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad yadav.

Hundreds of youths, mostly student's wing members of left parties, welcomed Kanhaiya when he arrived at Patna airport.

RJD insiders said Mr Yadav has assured all support to the student leader in his battle “against the BJP and RSS”.

Kanahiya Kumar, while speaking to the reporters in Patna also discussed the prohibition issue. Though he welcomed the ban imposed in Bihar by the Nitish Kumar government he said, “I am in favour of the ban but at the same time I would also like to speak about the freedom of expression.”

He hails from Bihar's Begusarai district.

Meanwhile, the police have detained two men for protesting during Kumar’s speech.

Kanhaiya, who was arrested on the charge of sedition in February in connection with an event on campus against hanging of parliament attack convict Afzal Guru during which anti-national slogans were allegedly raised, was released on bail in March.
