Vice Admiral Karambir Singh appointed new Navy chief

The government of India appoints Vice Admiral Karambir Singh, Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) as the next Chief of the Naval Staff.

The government on Saturday appointed Vice Admiral Karambir Singh as the new Chief of the Naval Staff after incumbent Admiral Sunil Lanba's term ends on May 31.

"The government of India appoints Vice Admiral Karambir Singh, Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) as the next Chief of the Naval Staff. To assume charge on superannuation of Admiral Sunil Lanba on May 31," an Indian Navy spokesman tweeted. 

Vice Admiral Karambir Singh will be the first helicopter pilot to become Chief of Naval Staff.
