The State Election Commission (SEC) on Saturday announced the schedule for holding urban local body elections in Jammu and Kashmir in four phases.
While polling will be held on October 8, 10, 13 and 16, the counting of votes will take place on October 20. Voting will begin at 7 am and will go on till 2 pm.
Earlier this week, the Peoples Democratic Party had announced it will boycott the municipal and panchayat elections, days after the National Conference announced its decision to stay away from the polls.
Former Jammu & Kashmir chief minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti had said they will not contest the polls as the prevailing situation was not favourable.
