Los Angeles: The nominees for the 57th annual Grammy awards were announced with singers Beyonce Knowles, Pharrell Williams and Sam Smith topping the charts with six nominations each.

The Recording Academy unveiled nominees Friday when singers Ed Sheeran and Pharrell started the fun on "CBS This Morning" show to announce the nominees for four major categories - Grammys: Record of the Year, Best Country Album, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Urban Contemporary Album, reports huffingtonpost.com.

The rest of the nominees were announced on micro-blooging site Twitter throughout the day, while Album of the Year was unveiled at the close of "A Very Grammy Christmas" latter in the night.

"This year's nominees are a reflection of the music community's diversity and range of talent, and a testament to The Academy's voting process," Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy, said in a statement.

Iggy Azalea, Beck, Eric Church, Drake, Gordon Goodwin, Jay Z, Miranda Lambert, Sia, Usher and Jack White earned four nominations each.

Album of the year nominees are Smith's "In the Lonely Hour", Beyonce's self-titled album, Pharrell's "Girl", Beck's "Morning Phase" and Ed Sheeran's "X".

Record of the year nominees include Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off", Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass", Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX's "Fancy" and Sia's "Chandelier".

Song of the year also includes Swift's "Shake it Off", Trainor's "All About That Bass" and Sia's "Chandelier", alongside Hozier's "Take Me to the Church".

Recognised in the best compilation soundtrack for visual media were “American Hustle,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Frozen,” “Get On Up: The James Brown Story” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

After winning an Oscar earlier this year, the music of Disney's hit animated film "Frozen" earned the nominations in the music written for visual media category of soundtrack, score and song.

The main event will be held Feb 8, 2015 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
