Manikarnika: Kangana Ranaut’s name shows on film’s clapboard as director

Kangana Ranaut’s most awaited period drama Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi has already been surrounded by a pool of controversies ever since it hit the floors. From script credits to Kangana’s injuries, everything has been the talk of the town. Now again, another controversy has hit the flick as the clapboard of the movie shows Kangana’s name in the director’s place.

A picture has gone viral on the internet in which Kangana Ranaut’s name was written as the director and people started wondering if it is true. But before this could turn into something big, Kangana's team posted a clarification on Instagram. The team wrote, "Krish Jagarlamudi is the director of Manikarnika and will remain so. Kangana Ranaut has stepped in to shoot just the patchwork on his behalf while he fulfills his commitments in another movie, to make sure that Manikarnika releases on 25th Jan 2019. The clapboard is merely to avoid on set confusion."

The truth is, Kangana has worn the director’s hat on behalf of Krish Jagarlamudi so that he can fulfill his other commitments. Kangana has always been very clear that Manikarnika is the movie she has worked very hard for and is also close to her hearts.

Talking about her character and playing the role of Rani Laxmibai, she said, "It's an iconic role. I trained a lot in sword fights and horse riding. In fact after riding the horse for two days straight I got a fever. I can only imagine the strength and nerves of steel that Laxmibai had... I am nowhere close to her greatness. I have only tried my best to portray her tales of bravery."

"Manikarnika-The Queen of Jhansi" is slated to release on January 25, 2019.
