Deepika to play Laxmi Agarwal, an acid attack survivor in her next untitled film. The work on Meghna Gulzar's directorial film to start early next year.

Deepika to start untitled film on Laxmi Agarwal early next year

Deepika Padukone who started her professional career with King Khan and appeared in Om Shanti Om (2007) was promising from the word go. Soon, the actress became everyone's favourite and gained immense popularity with her super-hit films. In today's time, Deepika who is filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's topmost favourite actress earned herself dignitary roles escalating her fan-base.

The style diva and famed actress, Deepika was last seen in Bhansali's one of the most controversial films -Padmaavat which gained immense love later. Soon after the film, the actress got busy with her wedding ceremonies. Deepika married actor Ranveer Singh on November 14 and 15 as per two different traditions.

Ranveer shared a screen space with a Deepika for a movie titled 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela' in the year 2013. In no time, the reel-love between two characters Ram and Leela turned into the real-love blossoming between Ranveer-Deepika. Now, actress Deepika Padukone is happily married and back in action in her professional life.

As per latest updates, Deepika will next be seen on-screen playing the role of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Talking about Deepika's character, Laxmi is a real-life survivor who was acid-attacked at the age of 15 and had to undergo several surgeries. Laxmi took up the job of helping acid attack survivors and continues to promote campaigns to stop acid attacks.

She even received the US State Department's International Women of Courage Award in 2014 from the former US First Lady Michelle Obama.

This untitled film is going to be Meghna Gulzar's directorial project. The interesting news about this project is that Deepika will also turn producer with the film.

"We will start working on the film early next year. I think it's a story that needs to be told. It's a very important story and it's a true life incident, so hopefully good things will come out of it", Deepika said in a statement as per media reports.

Deepika, who has her own fan-following because of her past power-packed performances, says: "It obviously feels nice because it's a result of hard work. It is not something that has fallen in my lap."

Daughter of legendary badminton player Prakash Padukone, Deepika also believes that life is about enjoying the journey. She said, "I think today, I will pass on the same message to kids who are present over here that to work hard, believe in your dreams and have fun while you are at it. Life is not only about coming first or being at the top, but it's about having fun and enjoying the process."
