New Delhi: Varun Dhawan, who plays SRK's younger brother in ‘Dilwale' says that being a part of this Rohit Shetty directed film is not a risk-free move for his career as it demanded a lot of hard-work to make his presence felt in the movie.

Shah Rukh-Kajol's ‘Dilwale', which released yesterday, collected a huge 21 crore on its first day at the box office. It also stars Kriti Sanon, Varun Sharma, Boman Irani, Johnny Lever and Sanjay Mishra in pivotal roles.

"I don't make safe decisions.'Dilwale' is also a risk for me in my career because if I am good in the film then only I will be seen. Otherwise it's very easy for me to get overshadowed because of the sheer star power not only of Shah Rukh and Kajol but also of Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra and Boman Irani. These guys are veterans," Varun told PTI.

The young actor said that it was his dream to be a part of a Rohit Shetty film which is now fulfilled.

"I love films like 'Dilwale.' I love family films, where you laugh, cry, see good actions, visuals and listen to good songs. I have always loved watching these films like an audience. I always wanted to be a part of one of them. This movie had enough meat and masala for me to perform," the 28-year-old actor said.

"My dad is a Rohit Shetty fan. He thinks Rohit sir is an amazing director. His success rate is something which is untouched in this industry. More than any of my films, dad is looking forward to 'Dilwale' because I am doing comedy in the film. It's a test for me whether I shine or not," he said.

The ‘Badlapur' actor reveals that he didn't get any film for a year after his debut despite having a filmy background.

"I started off my career with 'Student of the Year'. While my co-stars Sidharth (Malhotra) and Alia (Bhatt) were already shooting for their next projects, I was sitting at home for one year. The first film I signed was 'Badlapur' then 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' followed by 'Main Tera Hero' and 'ABCD 2'."

After ‘Dilwale', Varun will be seen in ‘Dishoom' and ‘Shuddhi' next year.
