Mumbai : Bollywood actor Uday Chopra is looking forward to launch a new label of comic books titled ‘Yomics', based on movies made by Yash Raj Films like ‘Hum Tum', ‘Dhoom' ‘Ek Tha Tiger'.

“I love reading comics...it is my passion. I think most people don't want to get into comics as they don't want to put money into it.

I feel if I am able to create an industry which doesn't exist today, I will be the one to start it. It is my love for comics for which I am doing this,” Uday told reporters here at the launch of Yomics'.

As of now, there are four titles, which are ready—‘Dhoom', ‘Ek Tha Tiger', ‘Hum Tum' and a new character-based comic called ‘Daya Prochu'.

“Daya Prochu is an original addition by us. He is shown to be a fun school-going boy, whose thoughts are different. I feel everyone will be able to relate to him,” Uday said. There is a fifth title in the Yomic series, which will be introduced during Diwali.

“We intend to come up with a new ‘Yomic' every month.  We will be adding the fifth title during Diwali. The new title is very different to ‘Dhoom' and ‘Ek tha tiger'. I want to give the readers something completely new,” Uday said.

Uday claims that ‘Yomics' are very different to conventional comic books, which are available in the market and that the look and feel of ‘Yomics' is distinct.

“Today's comics are very grim and dark. I want to stay away from that. I have kept the art work very colourful and simple. I want to cater to a universal audience and make them feel happy about it,” he said.

As Yash Raj Films is known for making romantic movies, when asked if he plans to introduce them eventually, Uday says, “I have thought about it. I don't know how they will do in a comic book format. This format needs action to get moving.”

“In the west, they don't only have action comic books, so I don't see any reason for not doing that here. We will love to do it in a while,” he said.
