New Delhi: After a prolonged break from movies, actor Sunny Deol has managed to do a commendable job with ‘Ghayal Once Again'.
The sequel of the 1990 blockbuster did a fair business at the box office on the first day, minting Rs 7.20 crores.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the collections earlier this morning.
For ‘Ghayal Once Again', Sunny donned the writer's, director's and producer's hat. Critics have asserted that this is a rare sequel, probably the only one in Bollywood which has organically grown.
The movie picks up where its previous instalment had left off. Ajay Mehra (Deol) having served his 14 years sentence in jail is now a free man. Despite the harsh years, Ajay is hell bent to fight corruption all over again and turn messiah for a group of college students.
Sunny Deol ensured he promoted the movie on all platforms he could to attract as many viewers he can at the theatres.
Along with, ‘Ghayal Once Again', ‘Sanam Teri Kasam' too released yesterday. Starring south actor Harshwardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, the movie did not garner positive reviews. However, Mawra's performance has been appreciated by many.
Of course, the clash seems to have little or no impact on ‘Ghayal Once Again's' collection. Akshay Kumar's ‘Airlift' can play a role, though. Only the weekend ahead, will decide if Sunny Paji's ‘Dhai Kilo Ka Haath' smashes box office records set by his previous films.
