Rajinikanth has a twin role in the flick. One as an old aged man, opposite whom Sonakshi is going to star, while the other will be his royal son who comes back to reign over his dynasty after finishing off his studies from abroad. South actress Anushka Shetty will be romancing with young Rajini's younger avatar.
The ‘Muhurat' of "Lingaa", which is named after Rajinikanth's grandson (son of his daughter Aishwarya and actor Dhanush), took place last week with a customary puja on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Trithiya.
The film spans across generations as it goes from current times to the flashback. The film will have music by double Grammy winner A R Rahman.
