New Delhi: Former Bollywood actress Reena Roy celebrates her birthday today. As she turns 59, we revisit her filmography on this special occasion.
Having began her acting career in early teens, Reena Roy made her Bollywood debut in B.R. Ishara's ‘Zaoorat' opposite newcomers Danny Denzongpa and Vijay Arora. The film's bold content brought her into the limelight but it couldn't help her secure a place in the industry.
The ‘Zaroorat' girl struggled a bit and even did B-grade films to earn her bread and butter. Her career took a positive turn with ‘Jaise Ko Taisa' in which her chemistry with Jeetendra raised temperatures.
It was with ‘Kalicharan' that her fate finally turned a new leaf. Directed by Subhash Ghai and starring Shatrughan Sinha, the film became a surprise hit and changed Reena's luck in Bollywood. She went on to do a number of films such as ‘Vishwanath', ‘Zakhmee', ‘Nagin', ‘Jaani Dushman' etc.
Her performance in ‘Apnapan' and ‘Aasha' brought immense appreciation and she earned accolades from all corners.
Her career spanned more than a decade which saw her work with some well-known names. One of her last releases was blockbuster ‘Ghulami', helmed by J.P. Dutta.
