Movie review: 3G, badly enabled drama

Surely he must be having an idea to generate Box Office returns out of it, like the former Telecom Minister A Raja would have done from the comparatively linear technology - 2G. Well, the director has made a mistake and he is trapped just like the former telecom minister in a make-believe world of his own making. The horror-cum comedy drama 3G is inversely proportional to 3G technology as far as speed is concerned. The character here is manipulated. The evil enters inside him everytime his 3G enabled cell phone rings. I am afraid, the telecom industry may sue the filmmaker for portraying their technology so recklessly. The beautiful Fiji Island turns horrifying for Sam (Neil) and Sheena (Sonal) when the former buys a second hand 3G enabled phone. A sequence of terrifying moments follow. Sam who comes across the deadly faces which look more like caricatures. Later they find out that the dead soul was trying to connect to the living world through their network. But why, and how will they get rid of this 3G connection? This is how the story deals further. Director Shantanu and Sheershak may have come up with an idea which sounds really thrilling but it isn't that bone chilling in its execution. The first half of the flick has some thrilling moments but the second half kills all the fear when it becomes repetitive. Like the phone ringing again and again, and Neil is hypnotized like a robot. Many a times this repetition gives you laughter and irritation. In the name of horror the dead doesn't leave Neil and the sould is stuck like a lizard. It comes face to face with him, seduces, dances and finally tries to kill. The problem that lies over here is its weak links and the question unanswered. Despite some goose bump delivering moments the flick drags a lot. The director tries to frighten us with other tactics like toaster and other household equipments when he is done with his 3G connection, which is not scary but then it is irritating again. Even someone bidding hello is made a source of horror for you. Looks crap! And then of course there is the brilliant sound effect which stands out to be the biggest ghost and the winner like any other horror flick but is added without stuff at numerous scenes. Convincingly, the lead stars stand out to be the liars over here as they overrule the fact that there are just three and not 30 kisses. We didn't make a count on that but there are plenty of them and the couple shares these moments with their best comfort, but that also doesn't work to save the flick. What works is just Neil Nitin Mukesh's act. Though I personally feel that David was his best performance so far, but here also he proves his skill especially as bad man. The Jannat girl is back with her beautiful figure. She sizzles everywhere including beaches, ocean, bedroom. But nothing could be said about her act as she still struggles in this department. Music by Mithoon is decent but the songs looks non-essential to be added to the flick.I'll go with two stars for 3G. Had the director worked on the screenplay and the script, the spectators would love to go for this 3G enabled horror drama.
