New Delhi: If B-Town buzz is to be believed, Kareena Kapoor Khan is in talks with makers of ex team India captain Azharuddin's biopic.
She will be playing his love interest and former actress Sangeeta Bijlani in the film.
Azharuddin is a former cricketer and national team's captain who lead the team between most of the 90s. He was accused of match fixing and had to take retirement from all forms of cricket.
Considered as one of the best player of his time, Azharuddin was the most successful captain of Indian cricket team until Dhoni broke his record.
He also represented Moradabad constituency of UP in Lok Sabha. He won the election on Congress Party's ticket in 2009.
Azhar married twice in his life, first with Nuareen whom he divorced after 9 years after marriage. His second marriage was with actress and model Sangeeta Bijlani in 1996. The couple separated in 2010.
Begum of Bollywood Kareena is tipped to portray the role of Sangeeta Bijlani in the film. There might be some hot and steamy scenes in the film too, considering Emran in the lead.
According to a leading daily's report, Kareena has agreed to consider the role and will only say yes after reading the script. She is currently holidaying in Switzerland as she celebrates every New Year with her husband Saif Ali Khan there.
Bijlani garnered fame with superhits like 'Hathyar', 'Tridev' and 'Jurm'. She was recognized by many as Nirma girl as she appeared in a TV commercial of the Nirma soap. She has not acted in any film since 1997 but often seen in social circuits.
The film depicting Azharuddin's life will be directed by Tony D'Souza who had earlier directed ‘Blue' and ‘Boss,' both starring Akshay Kumar.
