Director Karan Johar’s debut ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ is one such movie which is etched in the minds of every cine buff. The movie taught lessons about love, friendship and sacrifice, but making it was no cakewalk for KJo. Karan during a chat show revealed how he had to beg and bawl in front of superstar Salman Khan to make him wear a suit.

Everyone who has watched the movie would know that the song ‘Saajan Ji Ghar Aaye’ was an important turning point in the movie. The song showed actress Kajol’s transformation from ‘jhalli’ Anjali to wow Anjali. But just before the song actor Salman Khan did something which made Karan cry.

Karan narrated that Salman refused to wear a Shabina Khan designed suit. The then 33 -year old actor suggested to KJo that he will wear torn jeans paired with white T-shirt and enter like no groom would have ever.

“And it’s going to set a trend and people are going to go mad!,” Salman had told KJo then.

Initially, Karan though that Salman was just pulling his leg but after five minutes when the actor refused to budge, the former had to beg. Karan revealed that he started crying and asked Salman to not do this to his first movie.

“I beg you! Don’t do this to me; wear the black suit. It will look very nice, I promise,” Karan relived his memories.

The director then said that maybe it were the tears that did the trick. He said that Salman may have never seen a grown up man cry like a baby and agreed to wear the suit.

“Don’t worry, main pehanlunga. Tu rona mat haan, main maar dalunga tujhe, tu rona mat,” Salman had said.

Speaking on why he cried, Karan said that it was an instinctive reaction. He said he just couldn’t think of any other way to convince Salman to not ruin his palatial song with his torn jeans.

As the saying goes, all is well that ends well. We all have seen how wonderful the song turned out to be in the memorable movie.
