The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, which was initiated with much of fervour and gaiety and reached its last leg now. The entire B-town was seen celebrating the festival. Several celebs brought home the statue of Ganesha with a lot of enthusiasm including superstar Salman Khan’s family.
The Khan family has welcomed Bappa just a day before yesterday and performed the visarjan on Tuesday evening, As per the tradition, Ganesha is immersed in the sea after keeping his idol in the house for 1 to 11 days.
However, the Khan-dan chose not to immerse the statue in the sea. Instead, they did the visarjan in a unique way. Salman’s family built a temporary pond in the garden of their residence in Galaxy Apartments.
The Ganesh visarjan was performed by the ‘Sultan’ actor’s baby sister Arpita.
Interestingly, the Ganpati idol at Khan residence is organic, eco-friendly and doesn’t have any chemical used in its making.
The entire Khan family along with the friends from the film fraternity were present for the rituals. Before the immersion the family performed the aarti initiated by Salman’s father Salim Khan.
This was followed by every member doing the aarti of Ganesh individually including Sohail Khan, Alvira, Atul Agnihotri etc.
The pooja was also attended by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Amy Jackson, who happens to be the lead pair of Sohail Khan’s upcoming directorial ‘Freaky Ali’.
Salman's co-star from 'Jai Ho' Daisy Shah and his rakhi sister Shweta Rohira too were spotted in the pooja.
What else caught the attention was Arpita’s five month old son Ahil, who was celebrating his first Ganesh Chaturthi this year. Ahil was spotted enjoying the festival thoroughly.
But while the entire family was seen celebrating the festival superstar Salman Khan gave it a miss. The actor is busy with his upcoming movie ‘Tubelight’ and is currently shooting in Manali.
Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘Tubelight’ also feature Chinese actress Zhu Zhu in the lead and is expected to release on Eid next year.
