This series on prisoners of war is a breath of fresh air for Indian television

For decades now, Indian television is associated with family dramas and stories revolving around tears of saas and bahus. But seems a new show will give viewers a change and also reasons to people to turn on their televisions. A new show called ‘P.O.W: Bandi Yuddh Ke’ will soon begin on Star Plus and a look at the trailer reveals that this is going to be different.

Inspired from Israeli television show Prisoners of War, which draws inspiration from American show, Homeland, ‘P.O.W: Bandi Yuddh Ke’ traces the life of two army personnel who were locked up in a Pakistani jail for 17 years. Squadron leader Iman Khan (played by Satyadeep Mishra) and Naik Subedar Sartaj Singh (played by Purab Kohli) were captured by Pakistani after the 1999 Kargil war.

The two somehow manage to escape the prison, and its atrocities but their past doesn’t leave them alone. On return to their families, the two are constantly judged by army. It is feared that the two have become traitors after spending such a long time in Pakistani jail.
